My friend called her a 'husk', devoid of any interesting personality traits, hobbies or even a defined job. But, eventually, little by little, I added more to her character and story. I'm really happy with how she's turning out nowadays, and I hope it's clear that Mystery Eclipse's end is not the end of her story. She has a lot more to go through, both good and bad. One must keep fighting, after all...
Diane is the second oldest character in MyEc and one of my first OCs ever, having been created somewhere around 2017. As outdated and odd as her design is, I'm too attached to really change it. The two characters that influenced her character design are No Face from Spirited Away and Melissa from Planet Dolan. Weird combination, I know.
Sam is many things at once, including but not limited to: A space obsessed hyperactive kitty cat; A physical, psychological and emotional anomaly; A trickster, a jester, a fool; and Diane's best friend.
Check out his personal site here!Sam is undefinable, end of story. He's a slippery little rascal, his purposefully contradicting character traits making it hard to fit him anywhere neatly. He's a lot of fun to write, both inside and outside the comic. He's also my go-to model for experimentation and trying out new art styles. Everything you assume, think or say about him is simultaneously canon and non-canon. His past is a complete mystery to everyone, including me. Maybe he had some kind of traumatic event or he knows he's not real. Then again, he could also just be some guy who's trying to mess with people for the fun of it. Who knows? :3c
Sam was by any and all means a 'clutch' character. During my chapter 1-2 hiatus I wanted to make a new character that could support Shiko's character, hence comic relief buddy pal Sam was born. Other pieces of his personality fell into place after a while. I'm a little sad he ended up taking the spotlight way more than Diane, but that's my fault for finding a new darling to focus my writing on instead of sticking to the task at hand. His biggest character influence is Lupin III!

Apparently he's got a personal site..?Shiko is the first of the MyEc cast I created, and therefore he's gone through the most changes (in personality, that is). I don't know how to exactly feel about Shiko; he's fun to write, but I rarely draw him. He's funniest when he has other characters to bounce off of, especially already comedic characters like Sam. Compared to his 2020-2022 characterization (visible in chapters 1, 2 and the first half of 3), modern Shiko is more... stoic? He's not 'serious', particularly, he just doesn't really understand... much. Or doesn't care about it. He just wants to go back home.
Shiko's design is a weird collage of those cyclop furry OCs I kept seeing around 2016-2017 during the animation meme era of Youtube. That plus R0AD T0 ZER0, a webcomic which seems to have been deleted from CF, had a similar character design that I really liked. It's kind of funny to me how Shiko, being the titular alien of the webcomic, doesn't really do that much? Turns out I don't have that much interest in sci-fi alien tech stuff.
Millie is a short-fused, noir-obsessed, sleep-deprived and extremely stressed out hard-boiled forty something private investigator. Worst of all, she's used to this state of being and thinks it's perfectly normal.
Millie has no web site. She's never used a computer.Millie's a favorite of mine to write about. I mean, come on! I love detectives, I love film noir and I love characters that are messed up in the head; what were you expecting? I have big things planned for Millie, and I can't wait to show everybody what I've been writing on her for the past couple years.
Millie is what I would call a "collab" OC. I say this because my good friend Ren (NoLongerNull) was technically the one who created Millie as a proposed new character for MyEc, that I then sort of... adopted. My two biggest inspirations for her personality and general characteristics are Inspector Zenigata (Lupin III) and Sam (Sam & Max), plus any other loud mouthed, gruff-with-a-heart-of-gold characters you may or may not have heard of (Inspector Vergier, Dick Gumshoe and maaaybe a little bit of *cough* Ishimaru & Oowada *cough* in there)
A florist by day and a programmer by night, Daisy is a good old-fashioned computer nerd with a sense of humor that borders on the line of what might be criminal confessions.

We share an interest in computers and programming, we're both butchy nerds (or would that be nerdy butches?) and we both feel admiration towards our PCs... alongside other emotions. I am 100% serious when I say creating her has positively impacted my life. He's probably the most capable character in the entire webcomic.
This may be hard to believe, but I first thought of giving Millie a husband. Of course, the lesbian in me took over and immediately went the wife route. And for good reason! Daisy's awesome! As for characters that influenced him, I can't think of many besides a few from Stone Butch Blues... It's tough finding characters that remind me of her.
